Reservoar Exploration Technology ASA - Case Study

Reservoir Exploration Technology ASA (RXT) provides geophysical and seismic services to the oil and gas industry. RXT is the only marine geophysical company specializing in multi-component seafloor seismic data acquisition.

 

RXT’s goal is to achieve the safest and most efficient marine exploration operations possible. RXT vessels are usually equipped with twelve, 6,000m VSO cables that are valued well into the millions of dollars. The challenge for RXT is to preserve and protect their expensive cables from corrosion and wear.

 

Based on a comprehensive analysis of their situation Lanopro recommended and implemented a solution where RXT’s VSO cables were coated with Lanopro Wire Grease before being loaded onto vessels and sent into service. After being used underwater the cables were covered with Lanopro Oil Coating and stored for transport (to prevent corrosion).

 

Result

Using the proper lubricator and Lanopro Wire Grease, the life expectancy of RXT’s cables is expected to increase by 100% to 300%, which will save RXT up to C$4m per ship over the course of the cables operating life.
